The Best Cocktails for Men

The quaint

The Old-Fashioned kicks off our list for a reason. It meets the first definition of the word, and therefore the drink happens to be one of my favourites.

Made with bourbon or rye, it’s all the intense flavours and punch you expect to feel, but the bitters, sugar cube, and ice take the sting off a touch.

Ingredients:

One sugar cube

Three dashes Angostura Bitters

Splash of water or tonic

2 oz rye or bourbon

Slice of lemon or orange rind for garnish

Procedure:

Soften the sugar cube within the bottom of your glass with three dashes of bitters. Add your cube. Add 2 oz of whiskey (or four if you’re able to get the party started) and provides it with a swirl. Finish with a depart lemon or orange.

It’s an impressive-looking drink. For a twist, mix during a flavoured bitter like cherry or peach.

Want it to seem extra cool? Serve it up in one among these bad boys:

They’re very well-reviewed and have that heft and thickness you would like in your Old-Fashioned glass.

Whiskey Sour

The whisky sour may be a simple cocktail with only three ingredients. It’s tasty, and therefore the preparation will impress your guests.

It’s remarkably almost like truth margarita or daiquiri. That’s liquor and something sour. this is often a superb summer cocktail for men because the lemon keeps things light and sharp.

Ingredients:

2 oz whiskey

1 oz fresh juice

1 tsp sugar (or ½ oz simple syrup)

Add albumen into the combination if you’re feeling adventurous.

Procedure:

Put everything into your shaker over ice and shake well for 20 seconds.

TOM COLLINS

The secret to a collins is the glass. No, seriously. The tall Collins glass makes this tall frosty gin and lemon drink a pleasure to seem at, to observe be made, and to drink.

The clean flavours are a crowd pleaser for men and ladies alike, especially at the peak of summer.

Ingredients:

2 oz gin

1 oz fresh juice

1 tsp sugar (or ½ oz simple syrup)

tonic to fill

Procedure:

Add all ingredients besides tonic to a shaker and shake vigorously. Pour into a glass of ice. Fill the remainder of the glass with a mixture. Garnish with a slice of lemon and add a straw.

GIBSON

the primary record of a Gibson is from 1908. It’s an easy cocktail made during a martini glass. You’ll consider the Gibson as a martini with a cocktail onion rather than olives because that’s just about what it’s. And it’s also delicious.

Ingredients:

2.5 oz gin

0.5 oz vermouth

Cocktail onion for garnish

Procedure:

Mix ingredients over ice, stir and strain into your glass, add your cocktail onion. Although traditionally made with gin, try vodka if you’d sort of a cleaner flavour.

NEGRONI

This classic Italian drink became fashionable for US soldiers back in WWII, and that they brought the glass home. Made with bitter Campari, this drink is ideal as an aperitif before dinner or maybe as a nightcap after dessert.

Ingredients:

2oz Campari

2oz Gin

2 oz Italian vermouth

orange rind for garnish

Procedure:

Add a cube into a heavy-bottomed glass. Pour each of the ingredients into the mirror and provides a fast stir to mix. Add a slice of orange rind as a garnish.

Bonus:

For a bonus manly cocktail, swap out the gin within the Negroni for bourbon. Now, you’ve got what’s called a Boulevardier. It’s less herbal, with a sweeter punch.

MANHATTAN

As you’ll have guessed from the name, a well-liked history of this cocktail originated within the Manhattan Club in my back in the 1870s.

Other stories tell of a bartender within the 1860s Manhattan area creating it. Whomever you attribute it to, it’s one hell of a drink.

Ingredients:

2 oz rye

1 oz Italian vermouth

5 drops Angostura Bitters

Procedure:

Add everything into your mixing glass, add ice, stir, strain, and pour. Some people will try making a dry Manhattan. Don’t. Just no.

For a change, you’ll mix half and half Italian vermouth and French vermouth. If you would like to possess a touch more fun, toss a maraschino cherry within the bottom.

MARTINI

I’d be crazy to go away out the classiest of manly cocktails.

Think Bogart, Sir Churchill, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Fleming, Martin, and in fact, Bond. The famous, the powerful, and therefore the cultured have all made names from the Martini.

Ingredients:

2 oz gin

1 oz French vermouth

Garnish with an olive or lemon twist

Originally the recipe was:

4 oz gin

1 oz French vermouth

A basic martini, but I’m sure you’ve heard people say ‘dirty’, ‘dry’, ‘muddy’, the list goes on. Those are all variations on this classic cocktail.

These include dry: a little splash of French vermouth, rinse: rinse the glass with vermouth then empties it, extra dry: three drops vermouth, dirty: a splash of olive juice, perfected: rinse of sweet and French vermouth, smoky: vermouth replaced with scotch, and naked: no ice used but glass and ingredients are chilled.

The list goes on.

The Margarita

The margarita may be an excellent choice for a date, especially if you would like to point out you’ve got a touch of the wild side. Just don’t let it all outdated one: you’ve got time, brother.

If you order one, confirm it’s a classic style. Many bars and restaurants have them on the menu, but they’re a sickly-sweet slushy concoction in many colours and flavours. If that’s what you would like, you’ll also throw a popsicle in your blender with some booze.

Ingredients:

2 oz Tequila

1 oz orange liqueur

2 oz juice

Procedure:

Pour ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously to include air. Grab a wide-rimmed glass and add salt (add chilli if you’re tough enough). Pour your margarita into the glass.
